Today we live in a time with very special and totally different demands than at the time when the Ayurveda classics where drawn up. There is recommended for example the use of cow ghee, which then was a totally different substance than what is called ghee today.
To take uncriticaly recommendations, which may have been rather beneficial in those times because for example cows were considered holy and little calves were not slaughtered, is certainly not desirable today.
Ayurveda means to consider the requirements of time, place and individual personality and in this sense to develop recipes and treatments according to todays circumstances.
